Short Term Residential
OUR MISSION
Our individualized approach is comprehensive in nature and designed to provide young adults experiencing mental health challenges with stabilization, assessment, and treatment. We offer an intensive suite of services that includes psychiatry, psychotherapy, wellness, and clinical case management that are highly effective in helping our client’s better manage their symptoms. We work collaboratively with each client and their support systems, not only to better understand and treat our clients, but to create sound and successful plans for next steps upon completion.
HOW WE SERVE
Clients engage in multiple daily therapeutic groups, individual, and family therapy for stabilization and treatment. We also offer the option of psychological evaluation as an additional service. Careful thought for discharge planning is an essential focus throughout treatment to ensure our clients have an exceptional care plan and services in place upon leaving.
WHO WE SERVE
Our program is designed to treat young adults (ages 18-30; all genders) with a broad range of psychiatric presentations and client profiles. Our clients may experience: mood disorders, anxiety disorders, mild psychotic disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, history of trauma, or sleep-awake disorders.
Our Model and Services
Our program model focuses on four key areas and includes assessment, stabilization, treatment, and comprehensive clinical case management. Upon admissions our clients begin with a comprehensive assessment that includes clinical interviews, record reviews, consultations with past providers, psychiatric assessment and treatment, and in some cases psychological evaluation. Once we have formed our clinical impressions a diagnosis and treatment plan are established. Simultaneously, as well as throughout one’s treatment, we are evaluating next steps and beginning to develop a plan for discharge that best suits the clients needs.
From the first week of enrollment each client engages in individual, group, and family therapy multiple times along with weekly psychiatric care. Our program includes alternative therapies such as somatic movement and music therapy to provide additional support to our clients. Clients engage in activities of daily living that include cooking and caring for their environment. There are nutrition and cooking classes each week along with group volunteering. Mindfulness and meditation interventions and classes are also provided to help clients regulate during emotionally overwhelming times. This includes DBT and MBT group therapy sessions as well as meditation and journaling clubs.
When time for discharge arrives each client is well aware of their next step through the ongoing support of their primary psychotherapist. For some there will be the option to enroll in the Cornerstones of Maine YAP while others have thorough plans to continue their work in the community or at a separate program.
