Young Adult Program Admissions

Adulthood is both exciting and challenging for everyone. Our mission is to support young adults who need a little more help as they move into this critical phase. Whether stepping down from a therapeutic program or working towards autonomy, our tailored programs are designed to meet every client where they are. We’re here for you.

While many families collaborate with educational consultants, psychologists, and other professionals during this process, it's not a requirement for admission into our program. Clients may come to Cornerstones of Maine from:

  • Boarding Schools
  • Home Settings
  • Residential Treatment
  • Substance Use Programs
  • Therapeutic Boarding Schools
  • Wilderness Therapy
  • And More

The Admissions Process

1. Initial Inquiry

First, complete our Admissions Inquiry Form so we can understand your current situation and needs.

2. Assessment of Fit

After receiving your inquiry, our admissions team will:

  • Schedule Interviews: We'll arrange conversations with the prospective client, family members, and any current or previous treatment providers.
  • Review Documentation: We complete an evaluation of medical records, educational history, and any relevant assessments to ensure our program aligns with your needs.
  • Collaborative Decision: Our clinical team will determine if our environment is the optimal fit for you, your loved one, or client.
3. Intake & Orientation

Upon acceptance, clients collaborate with our team members to develop their personal goals—encompassing education, vocation, life skills, and more. During orientation, they meet the community and learn about the various resources and support systems that are available.

4. Active Participation

Clients engage fully in our program by attending both individual and group therapy, completing life skills workshops (covering areas like budgeting, cooking, time management, and more), and building friendships as they practice interpersonal skills.
